The 2024 World Chinese Conference, themed "Interconnection, Integration, Inheritance, and Innovation," was held at the Beijing International Convention Center from November 15 to 17. Attendees included over 2,000 representatives from over 160 countries, such as government officials, university leaders, scholars, and international organization representatives. The event highlighted international collaboration in Chinese language education and vocational training.

Signing of the Chinese Workshop Agreement

President Wang Wei attended the opening ceremony and signed a tripartite agreement on behalf of the university with the Ministry of Education’s Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and CITIC Dicastal Morocco Branch. This initiative aims to cultivate local employees who are "proficient in Chinese, skilled in technical trades, and effective communicators," aligning with CITIC Dicastal’s goal to establish Africa’s first "Lighthouse Factory"—a model of smart manufacturing.

Strategic Collaboration for "Chinese + Vocational Skills"

Following the signing, President Wang Wei engaged in discussions with CITIC Dicastal’s leadership to refine the Chinese Workshop’s framework. The partnership emphasizes integrating Chinese language training with technical skills development to support overseas enterprises like CITIC Dicastal in addressing workforce needs.

Award Recognition for Excellence

Vice President Chen Jiangfeng accepted the "Excellent Partner for HSK Chinese + Vocational Skills" award at the HSK Global Partners Conference. He highlighted the university’s efforts to advance bilingual vocational education through curriculum innovation, international partnerships, and faculty development.

About the Chinese Workshop Initiative

Launched in 2021 by CLEC, the Chinese Workshop program partners with Chinese enterprises and universities to train localized talent for overseas operations. To date, nearly 30 workshops have been established across 20+ countries, serving major state-owned and private enterprises.

Extended Conference Insights

The conference featured discussions on standardizing Chinese language education, blending language training with vocational skills, and fostering cross-cultural dialogue. As part of China’s "Belt and Road" initiative, these efforts aim to enhance global understanding of Chinese culture and technical expertise.
