Beijing Polytechnic University, the most renowned vocational university located in southeast Beijing, is the birthplace of  high-caliber craftsmen developing skills to serve the country.

Founded in 1958, and located in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, it is now the first vocational undergraduate university under the administration of Beijing Municipality, known as the forerunner of national vocational education reform and the vanguard and leader of Beijing's vocational education for its comprehensive strength ranking among the top of higher vocational institutions in China.

The University sticks to the development strategy of integrating industry, city and education, gives full play to the location advantage and signs comprehensive strategic cooperation agreements with the Development Area.

It has established long-term and in-depth cooperation  with over 300 world-renowned and industry-leading enterprises, setting up the Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing Industry College, the Low-Altitude Technology Industry College, and Synthetic Biology Intelligent Manufacturing Industry-Education Integration Platform. It took a leading role in setting up the national-level Beijing Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Consortium and industry-education integration communities such as software and information services (digital technology) community.

The University relies on industries to develop specialties by precisely docking with the capital’s high-tech industries and the Development Area’s leading industries, setting up 7 specialty groups in high-end automobile, bio-medicine, advanced manufacturing, integrated circuits, aviation and aerospace, business service and cultural creativity, covering over 30 majors of junior college education and 6 majors of undergraduate education in 8 schools including School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Aeronautical Engineering, School of Automotive Engineering, School of Integrated Circuits (Artificial Intelligence), School of Bioengineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Art and Design, and School of General Education. Two specialty groups were listed into The Double High-Level Initiative (Shuanggao), and five in High-level Specialty Group with Beijing Characteristics.

It focuses on fostering virtue through education and forms a featured SCI system to cultivate the Skilled talent, the Comprehensive talent, and the Innovative talent. So far, it has cultivated over 100,000 high-calibre skilled talents including founders of listed companies, chief technicians, and teachers working in famous colleges and universities. Students participate in various National-level Skills Competitions, with the total number of medals won ranking at the forefront of higher vocational education institutions. The graduates’ employment quality ranks among the top higher vocational institutions in Beijing.

The University implements the strategy of building a leading vocational university in science and technology and has hosted a number of national and provincial scientific research projects like the National Natural Science Fund Program and the National Social Sciences Fund Program. It set up three pilot bases in the Development Area focusing on integrated circuit products testing, intelligent manufacturing R&D of complex and special-shaped parts, chemical pharmaceutical preparations and protein drug R&D and was awarded Beijing Patent Demonstration Unit and Intellectual Property Demonstration Unit. With 10 national and provincial training platforms on campus, it has formed a three-dimensional training brand consisting of customized enterprise training, high-end faculty training, and diversified non-profit training. Over the past 5 years, funds received for providing technical services and training has exceeded 100 million Yuan.

It pursues the strategy of developing through human resources，and has built a high-level dual-qualification faculty team with both integrity and professional competence. 85% of the faculty are qualified for both teaching and practices. Teachers have won many national honors and award.

Guided by the strategy of "vocational education going global", the University has co-built technical skills training bases with Tunisian universities, and established an international education exchange platform around "Chinese + professional skills", creating a new "2+1+1" international talent training model. By cooperating with Moroccan universities, it built a Chinese learning and testing center to promote the internationalization of Chinese teaching resources. By co-building the Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills with CITIC Dicastal (Morocco), it helps the development of the company which happens to be the first lighthouse factory in Africa. It also carries out diversified exchanges and cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road” such as Malaysia and Singapore, polishing the new brand of “Study Beijing”.
